January 22, 2007 CONTESTANTS
SET NEW WORLD RECORDS Spectators were treated to one of the most exciting WFD events to date as contestants set 6 NEW WORLD RECORDS! Mike ‘Machine’ Mallais’s amazing foot speed enabled him to break 3 bass drum records! ‘Machine’ even slammed out a fiery 1,034 bass drums strokes in 60 completely annihilating Tim ‘Silver Feet’ Waterson’s 6 year old 1,030 singles record! ‘Machine’ now holds the following WFD World Records: 1,034
single stroke in 60 seconds
The girls also threw down hard to set 3 new WFD World Records! At barely 14 years old, Caitlin ‘Lead Foot’ Kalafus set two new WFD World records. Caitlin became the youngest person to ever hold a WFD World Record when she beat out a blistering 799 singles on the bass drum and taking the WFD World Record ‘Battle of the Feet’ (female division). Not to be out done, Miss WFD and Mystery Hangup drummer, Lux, showed some serious speed when she took the WFD World Record for the ‘Battle of the Hands’ (female division) with a exhilarating 901 singles in 60!

THE WINNERS OF THE Congrats to Ivy Lynn and Kristin Maverick on winning the Miss WFD Austin 2006 title. They will be appearing with WFD at the 2006 Summer NAMM Session in Austin, Texas.
Special thanks to Jeff Curley at Austin Models & Talent Agency. May 17, 2006 Click here to see Matt Smith unofficially break his age 16 and younger world record by running 1,083 on the Drumometer. Again, this is NOT an official WFD record. Click here to see Matt with his jazz combo (featuring Toronto trumpeter Mike Malonein) performing at a concert. Matt states, "I mainly wanted to show this because a lot of us associated with WFD get slammed for not having decent taste with a group, and I think I was OK here. This video should also serve as an example to bass players to be straight for a gig. The changes got a little strange." Click
here to see Matt solo. Concerning the solo Matt says, "Although
I'm not a big fan of my own drum solos, I felt like I needed to have one,
and since everybody thinks I'm some kind of fast guy or something, I thought
I would make this a drum solo that was kind of parody of alot of those
kind of guys all smashed together, although the solo is not that fast.
Maybe it worked, maybe not. Anyway, hope you like this stuff. Yeah, I
know I'm not perfect for sure. But we all got to keep workin' at it I
guuess." May 2 2006 Congrats to 2006 Winter NAMM Battle
